Dear Friends of FP,

I write to you in the last full week of my tenure as Executive Director and Publisher at the Feminist Press. It has been an honor to play a part in shaping this vital chapter of FP’s history. Our late founder Florence Howe saw the Press as a springboard for visionary, marginalized voices to gain entry into all levels of publishing. As I move on to my next chapter, I am forever grateful to have had the opportunity to champion FP’s mission and serve our community, fifty years after its founding.

In recent years, FP sharpened its focus on insurgent debut and early career marginalized authors. We’re proud that our books have been honored as winners or finalists of the Kirkus Prize for Fiction, PEN/Diamonstein-Spielvogel Award for the Art of the Essay, PEN/Faulkner Award for Fiction, Lambda Literary Award, Best Translated Book Award, Foreword INDIES Book of the Year, Asian/Pacific American Award for Literature, and National Translation Award. This year alone, our books have been recognized in outlets including the Paris Review, the Washington Post, and the New Yorker, and chosen as best-of-the-year titles by Kirkus, NPR’s Book Concierge, and the New York Times Critics. Our books have won critical acclaim, but more importantly, they’ve inspired us to build the feminist future we all dream of.

With your help, we have diversified and expanded FP’s funding pipeline and grant portfolio, and created a framework for a sustainable growth campaign. As I say farewell, I’m confident that FP’s position of strength and dedicated leadership will both sustain and expand its impactful mission and programs. I look forward to supporting our interim leader and the next Executive Director on what is sure to be an exciting new chapter.

Thank you for the opportunity to work with you to create a more just world where everyone recognizes themselves in a book. It means so much to see the continued dedication, support, and care shown by each and every member of the extended FP family.

I look forward to a lifelong relationship with the Feminist Press as a donor, reader, and friend. Please join me today in my pledge to support the Feminist Press. Your generous contributions will keep sustaining this one-of-a-kind feminist literary publisher and community for years to come.

With love and solidarity,

Jamia
