The Florence Howe Society
The Florence Howe Society is a dedicated community of supporters who have pledged to include the Feminist Press in their estate planning. Founded in 1999, and named in honor of FP’s founder, the Florence Howe Society offers the opportunity to sustain the vital mission of feminist publishing for years to come.
In 1970, as the movement for women’s liberation gathered momentum nationwide, Florence Howe founded the Feminist Press to provide a home for marginalized voices and stories from around the world. Nearly five decades later, the Feminist Press continues to thrive as the vanguard of feminist literary activism. We’ve mobilized publishing as a tool for cultural transformation and made great strides in the movement for gender justice, but there is still much work to be done.
We invite you to help carry out Florence’s ambitious legacy and advance the vibrant future of feminist publishing by becoming a member of the Florence Howe Society.
As a member of the Florence Howe Society, you will receive the following benefits:
Fifty percent discount on all Feminist Press books
Recognition (with your permission) on our website and in our gala journal and other printed materials. Society members who pledge at the $50,000 level or above will be recognized in all of our books
VIP seating at author readings, book launches, and other select Feminist Press events
Opportunity to attend an annual gathering at the Feminist Press office in New York City, where you can mingle with staff, enjoy light refreshments, and receive a special preview of the coming book season
