Each year roughly 30,000 people compete in a progressive series of speech contests throughout the world culminating in 81 semi-finalists and 9 finalists. In its 87-year history, only 4 women have ever become Toastmasters World Champions of Public Speaking. Striving to beat those odds, three women competed and reached the finals and semi-finals stages. Lisa Panarello (2010 finalist), Olivia Schofield (first European woman finalist, 2011), and Karol Ward (semi finalist) share their journeys in this lively panel moderated by Sonia Satra.
Toastmasters is an international series of clubs for the development of communication and leadership skills. In the New York City/Long Island and Westchester vicinity there are 170 clubs and guests are warmly welcomed.
