RENATE BRIDENTHAL, who has a Ph.D. in history from Columbia University, is professor of history at Brooklyn College of the City University of New York. Bridenthal was a founder and coordinator of the Brooklyn College women's studies program and a co-founder at the City University Women's Coalition. She has served as a national co-chairwoman of the Coordinating Committee of Women in the Historical Profession and as convenor of the Conference Group in Women's History. Bridenthal is co-editor of Becoming Visible: Women in European History and of When Biology Became Destiny: Women in Weimar and Nazi Germany. She is on the board of Science and Society.
