PAISLEY CURRAH received an M.A. and Ph.D. in government from Cornell University and a B.A. in Political Studies from Queen's University in Canada. He is also a founder and board member of the Transgender Law and Policy Institute. He was the Executive Director of the Center for Lesbian and Gay Studies from 2003-07 and now serves on its International Resource Network Advisory Board. He is a co-editor, with Richard Juang and Shannon Minter, of Transgender Rights (Minnesota, 2006), which was awarded the Sylvia Rivera Award in Transgender Studies. He is guest editing, with Lisa Jean Moore and Susan Stryker, a special issue of WSQ entitled, "Trans-." He is also a guest editor, with Dean Spade, of "The State We're In: Locations of Coercion and Resistance in Trans Policy," a special issue of Sexuality Research and Social Policy. His current book project is "Not the United States of Gender: Legislating, Litigating, and Regulating (Trans)Gender."
