MARILYN L. BOOTH is a visiting associate professor of comparative literature at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. She received her Ph.D. in modern Arabic literature and modern history of the Middle East from the University of Oxford, St. Anthony's College, in 1985. She has translated eleven books and numerous stories, poems, and articles from Arabic into English and is currently working on two books about women in Middle Eastern culture.
