MALAVIA KARLEKAR is the editor of the Indian Journal of Gender Studies, a consultant for the Centre for Women's Development Studies (CWDS), New Delhi, and the project director of photo archives on women in the Centre for Women's Development Studies. Since 1975, Karlekar has been a researcher and university teacher in education, gender, and equality issues. From 1988 onwards, she has been a visiting fellow at various institutions, among them McGill University,Tokyo Woman's Christian University, and Ochanomizu University in Tokyo.
