LISA WALKER is the associate professor of English at the University of Southern Maine in Portland, Maine. This fall, she is on sabbatical. She is the author of Looking Like What You Are: Sexual Style, Race, and Lesbian Identity (NYU Press, 2001) and recently wrote the afterword to The Girls in 3-B (Feminist Press, 2003). She currently lives with her partner and puppy who recently chewed up her white satin maribou mules.
