LINDSEY COLLEN was born in South Africa and lives in Mauritius. She is the author of of five novels: There Is a Tide, Getting Rid of It, Mutiny, Misyon Garson, and The Rape of Sita. She is also a longtime activist for women's rights and social justice and co-founder of an organization to combat illiteracy in Mauritius.
