Actor, playwright, and author ANNA DEAVERE SMITH recently performed her latest play Let Me Down Easy off-Broadway, and appears on Showtime’s Nurse Jackie. Nominated for both a Tony Award and Pulitzer Prize and winner of a MacArthur "Genius" Award, Smith is the author of Talk to Me: Travels in Media and Politics, Letters to a Young Artist: Straight-Up Advice on Making a Life in the Arts, and the one woman plays Fires in the Mirror and Twilight: Los Angeles. She has appeared in numerous films, including Philadelphia, The American President, and Rachel Getting Married. Smith also teaches both performing arts and law at New York University.
