Abena P. A. Busia

ABENA P.A. BUSIA is an associate professor of literatures in English, and of women's and gender studies, at Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey. She also currently serves as the director of the Center for African Studies at Rutgers, and the director of the Association for the Study of the Worldwide African Diaspora. In addition to being co-director and series editor of Women Writing Africa, she has also co-edited Theorizing Black Feminisms: The Visionary Pragmatism of Black Women with Stanlie James, and Beyond Survival: African Literature and the Search for New Life: Proceedings of the 1994 African Literature Association Conference, with Kofi Anyidoho and Anne Adams. She has published widely on black women's literature, colonial discourse, and post colonial studies and is the author of two volumes of poems, Testimonies of Exile (1990) and Traces of Life (2008).
